My Top 5 Travel Experiences of 2018

New year - new stuff on thefreebohemian? That is surely the plan.

Traveling and adventuring will always be close to my heart, but I'm sure I'm not the only one when I say "life happens and you have to deal with it". At those times it can be nice to look on thefreebohemian and the pictures and inspiration that makes your thoughts wander to far away places.

Since it is January maybe you are in the process of planning a new trip right now or looking for some inspiration on where to go this year? Maybe you just want to spend some quality time with loved ones and thinking about doing it abroad?

Here are the trips I am thankful that I had the opportunity to experience with friends and family this year. Cherish time together and cherish little moments - appreciate what you have and what you get the chance to see. The start of a new year is a great time to think about what you remember best and what highlights there were in 2018, and pictures are a great way to remember to be grateful.

1. Drinking the best coconut coffee ever in Vietnam

This is the most delicious iced beverage you can have during a sweaty day in Da Nang in Vietnam. They sell it at a café close to the beach called Ka Công café. Not very healthy, but yummy! The interior design is a bonus at Ka Công cafe and you can also have lunch or dinner - try the Quang noodles! More on Vietnam on thefreebohemian.com soon.

2. walking around in the hague

I was genuinely surprised by this lovely city. It is easy to walk around and there is lots of boho inspired small shops, aesthetic restaurants and generally lots of good shopping. The Hague is also a beach city!

3. A private tour in the colosseum in rome

Rome in January actually isn't such a bad idea. The sights aren't that crowded and the temperature is not very low compared to the Nordics. It was totally worth paying for a private tour of the Colosseum because there is always a lot of people in the Colosseum. On the private tour you get a guide that takes you past closed and locked doors and up to the top floors of the Colosseum. There was actually just two other people with us on this tour, so there was almost no one else around.

4. Getting quality time with two of my best friends in riga

Sometimes you actually don't need to run around and see all the top sights. Sometimes you just want to catch up with a friend or just be with your family or close ones. It is of course a bonus if this can be somewhere you have not been before, if that's your jam, but sometimes the most important thing is to spend time with people you love. That is why I loved spending quality time with two of my closest friends in Riga. It was the first time visiting one of the Baltic countries and we were positively surprised by this pretty city. We found the cutest cafe called Apsara Tea House in a park area. We basically spent the whole afternoon there just enjoying coffee, sparkling wine, tea and just talking, catching up and enjoying the company of each other.

5. Splurging on a luxury spa day in Marrakech in December

Last, but not least. I am so happy that we decided on going all out and splurging on a day at La Mamounia in Marrakech last December. The weather was perfect and we got to spend a day by the pool as well as using the spa facilities. A much better way to spend some December days than being in snowy and icy Norway. And yes, Marrakech is as beautiful and colorful as the pictures say. More on Marrakech on thefreebohemian.com soon!
