Nord i Sardinia ligger byen Palau hvor man kan ta ferje til øygruppen La Maddalena som ligger ca. 20 minutter med ferje utenfor Sardinia. The islands can be reached from Palau by ferry that takes about 20 minutes. From the main island you can go on excursions to smaller islands such as the island Spargi and the beach Cala Corsara. Ca. 2,5 timers kjøretur fra Alghero finner du en av de dypeste canyons i Europa. Det er ca. 4 timer tur-retur å gå ned dit. Ta med badetøy da det finnes noen små kulper man kan bade i. På de trangeste stedene i canyonen må man holde seg i tau for å komme videre. Det sies at stedet er magisk og at man vil ha et langt liv ved å gå dit - i hvert fall får man litt trim.

4. Trekking at Su Gorroppu gorge - one of the deepest canyons in Europe

Try trekking the magical canyon called Su Gorroppu gorge - one of the deepest in Europe. It is said that the people who walk it will live long - at least you get a decent hike. The round trip is about 4 hours. Bring some swimming clothes as there are some possibilities to take a dip in some minor pools at the bottom. For the more adventurous types; there are some narrow passages where you need to use a rope.
